座る為の椅子であり、また本、小箱など物を置く為の椅子でもある。無垢の木 で全てが作られていて、完璧に九十度を成している。背もたれは高い。座部は 釘を用いずにはめ込みで作り上げている。一見質素なこの様子は、イタリアの 1500 年代の素朴な家具の持つ威厳を放っている。物を置ける椅子は、機能的 なオブジェであり。変形可能な彫刻とも言える。二体の椅子を縦に組み合わせ ると、日常的に使える別の家具となる。この家具と向き合う時は、従来の椅子 という概念から離れて見る必要がある。

This is a chair made for sitting, but also for storage of books, boxes, and other small items. Made completely from natural wood, and composed of perfect 90 degree angles. The backrest is high. The seating area is made without the usage of nails. At first glance, it resembles the simple Italian furniture from the 1500’s with its radiated dignity. A chair capable of storage is a functional object. It could be called a transformable sculpture. When two chairs are combined horizontally, they become a different piece of daily furniture. Looking at this, one must depart from the standard concept of the chairs of old.
